about

Hello.
My name is Alanna. (Rhymes with piranha.)

When I figure out what this site is going to be, or once I realize what it’s become, I’ll write something about it.

I’m an actor and writer who takes photos, draws, paints, sings, dances, and plays music. I graduated California Institute of the Arts in 2008, majoring in theater performance; I like to tell people I minored in creative writing but the truth is there is no creative writing minor at CalArts, although I’m completely positive I would have earned it if there were one. I lived in Los Angeles for eight years; now I live in Astoria, New York, where so far I’ve worked as an usher, a bartender, a hot cocktail girl, a baker, and an actor. Before all that I was born and reared in Memphis, TN.

In 1999 I created the creative website alita (later to become alita.org) which grew to contain two and a half novellas, twenty-six stories, over two hundred poems, and over six hundred journal entries. That’s a lot. The site’s down for now but the words lurk on.

alita.org’s bio:

I like to create profound shit. I tell it like i see it, but I do not intend to insult or hurt. I am here with a desire to succeed and a hunger for truth. I hope I do not offend you; I hope you want to respond.
